School of Journalism and Mass Communication


The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Noida International University aims to create professionals who possess both intellectual and technical rigor of high calibre. The school is constantly working to innovate and improvise the knowledge delivery mechanism by introducing new-age pedagogy and teaching standards. Fresh pedagogical and methodological considerations have been employed by a dedicated team of young and veteran academics in designing the modules by reconciling key tenets of theory, practice, research and training to enhance one's learning experience.

The perfect combination of theory and practice determines our drive to produce talent which can go beyond the mechanical way of journalistic practice and produce work which is creative, informative, intriguing and entertaining in nature. To cater to the needs of the new age media industry, fresh technical modules such as digital filmmaking, cinematography, advanced digital photography, film production and non-linear editing have been complied and introduced at both bachelor and master levels. Specialised courses like 3D animation, cinema studies, event management and new-media advertising are soon to be added to SJMC's growing academic profile.

Head of the Department

Prof. Vikram is a Post Graduate in Mass Communication and Film Production; He carried more than 13 years of experience in Media Industry as well as Media Academics. He holds major specialization in Cinema Studies, Documentary Films, Digital Film Making, Film Direction and Film Editing. He is also an internationally acclaimed certified editor. He has been associated with more than 200 Television Productions at national and international level as a Producer, Director. Being in Industry, he has been associated with Zee News, Jagran 7 (now IBN7), BAG Films (News 24), Miditech, National Geographic (India), Doordarshan.

In Media Academics, he has been associated with Amity University, Jagannath Institute of Management Sciences (IP University), National Institute of Social Communication – Research & Training, International School of Media and Entertainment Studies. Presently, he holds the position of the Head of Department of School of Journalism & Mass Communication in Noida International University. He is a prominent member of Public Service Broadcast trust, Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council, Indian Motion Picture Producers Association and Film Producer’s Guild, Mumbai. Prof. Vikram is the Director of RSIFF (Reelemotions Student International Film Festival) an annual International Film Festival organized by School of Journalism & Mass Communication.

Prof. Jaycey Vikram holds the vision to transform the current norms of media education taking into consideration the new emerging technological trends; interactive mode of teaching & training under the nomenclature of the governing bodies. His principle objective is to incubate the spark of developing into a media entrepreneur in the students opting for Journalism & Media studies. His thought of running a knowledge exchange programme and Idea incubation centre under the aegis of the school has been a benchmark in the development of media students in the University.

In the area of Research & Film Production, he is currently pursing doctorate programme in “Cinema – Art of Film Making by Practice”. He has presented and published two research papers at national and one at international conferences. He has achieved national awards for his remarkable film “The Gorkhas” on the Indian Army. His other research projects include films on Social Issues, Wild Life, Indian Army, Indian Culture, Women Empowerment and Government Policies.

He is present writing a book on “Media Intellectualism with Divine Perspective”.

Assistant Professor

Ms. Poonam Gaur (Assistant Professor)
She is Masters & M. Phil. in Journalism & Mass Communication. She is pursuing Ph. D. from Indira Gandhi National Open University. She has 4 years of experience in Academics and Media Industry. She has been associated with Singhania University, Rajasthan as Assistant Professor in Mass Communication. She has also been academically associated as Guest Lecturer of Journalism & Mass Communication in Bhim Rao Ambedkar College and Ram Lal Anand College, University of Delhi. She has been continuously and deeply associated with Care Campus (Non Governmental Organization) with her Community Media services for Child Development.

Her areas of specialization include Development Communication, Print Journalism, Broadcast Industry and Media Culture & Society. In the areas of research, she has presented and published 4 Research Papers.

Assistant Professor

Ms. Asha Adhikari (Assistant Professor)
She is Masters in Mass Communication from Amity University, Lucknow. She has 3 years of experience in Media Industry & Media academics. She has been associated with leading newspaper publications as Cultural Reporter. She has also been into online Journalism with remarkable experience as content writer and editor. She has been also associated with prominent production houses and Ad Agencies as Media Planner having the clients like Vodafone etc.

Academically, her areas of specialization are Online Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations, Brand Management and Corporate Communication. She has been professionally associated with BAG films, Noida and worked as a Senior Faculty in International School of Media & Entertainment Studies.

Assistant Professor

Mr. Vinit Vishal (Assistant Professor)
He has started his career as a freelancer for the Pioneer Newspaper. Did MCD poll survey for the newspaper in the year 2008. He has done film rating for We Care Foundation’s film festival in 2009. He has also worked as apprentice for Gyan Darshan channel in 2010, where he assisted in important projects as making of promotional videos of project Gyandeep of Indian Army for Gyan Darshan-1.

He has worked with India News as a trainee Journalist at output desk in 2012. He has also been profiled as Media Mentor with American India Foundation. He has credited for his part time work for Gyan Vani FM Radio as a Casual Announcer and Anchor Person 2011.He has worked as a producer (News), with Asian News International (ANI), news agency on news desk.

Academically, he has been visiting as a Guest Faculty at DAV Centenary College, Faridabad. He holds expertise in Electronic Media Production, New Media and Socio-Cultural aspect of Media.

Assistant Professor

Mr. Anil Kumar Patel (Video Editor and Animator)
He has expertise in Video Editing in Final Cut Pro (FCP), Adobe Premier Pro, After Effects and posse’s degree in Animation and Multimedia. He has wide range of specializations – 3D Modelling and Animation and 2D Modelling and Animation. He has experience with Sound Forge, Sound Tract Pro, Adobe Audition , 3DS Max, Maya, Adobe Flash , Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel Draw and Quark Express. Besides this he also holds skills in Web Designing and Graphic designing.

He has been associated with various Production Houses. Studio Handling and interior and exterior architecture designing adds to his caliber. In Media Industry he also holds experience as video Editor with BAG Films Network (NEWs 24).
