    Teaching Summary

I have been keenly interested in teaching since my university days. I believe that teaching will give me an opportunity to join an academic profession, to which I feel I can make a real contribution. I have always found that I have a genuine care and concern for students during my work experiences as a Research Fellow in National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science (NICFS) and as a master trainer in the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), by listening diligently and wanting to answer more of their queries.

During my stay in NICFS, I had to take courses on of M.A/M.Sc. Criminology, Sociology of Deviance, Penology, Police Science, Correctional Administration, Victimology and Human Rights in Criminal Justice Administration. Apart from this, guiding students in mini projects and dissertation/ thesis, making questions and evaluating answer sheets in internal semester examination, act as an examiner of viva-voce examination of M.Sc. Criminology students were also a part of my academic curriculum. I had also undertaken various field visits in many correctional institutes all over the country, forensic laboratory, judicial academy, police stations as well as various courts (District and Session courts, Metropolitan court, High court and Supreme court). NICFS also taught me the basics and ethics of research. During my term here I personally interacted with many notorious dacoits namely Mohor Singh, Punjab Singh Gujjar which is a distant dream for any research scholar. Many articles were published during this period.

While teaching at NISD, I took keen interest in the area of Gerontology, Geriatric Management and Research Methodology. As a Master Trainer there, I usually had to undertake field visits to different old age homes in various parts of the country along with the students. This exposure visit gave the students a broader outlook of the problem of senior citizens facing in the society, community as well as in the family. I was also a research supervisor of the PG Dilopma students in Geriatric Care and Gerontology.

    Research Summary

My research experience dates back to a time while I was a Home Ministry Research Fellow in the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science (NICFS). My doctoral dissertation was on the Changing Pattern of Dacoity in the Chambal Valley: A Sociological Study. During the period of my study I had conducted my field survey in the dacoit infested areas of Bhind, Morena, Sheopur and Gwalior over tenure of 9 months.

While working at NISD, one of my articles on Crime against Elderly was published in a reputed journal which was widely acclaimed in the academic arena. Apart from this, I was also the coordinator of International Day of Senior Citizen organized by Govt. India. For this particular occasion, I undertook desk based research on the best practices of the laws and policies followed in various developed nations. The data has been compiled and the monograph was prepared

During my tenure at National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) I was also involved in two of the major research studies on Substance Abuse and Drug Addiction among Children and Functioning of Child Welfare Committee
