Noida International University was established in 2010 by an Act (Act No. 27 of 2010) of the Uttar Pradesh State Legislature. The University is approved under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956 and is empowered to award degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act 1956. NIU is accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade (score 3.44, Cycle 1) and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
NIU is recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) and is a Host Institute recognized by MSME, Government of India.
