Report on Student Representation at BRICS CCI Youth Leadership Dialogue 2.0

Introduction

The BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI) Young Leaders Vertical organized the Youth Leadership Dialogue 2.0 from 4th to 12th August 2025 in New Delhi. This seven-day program, aligned with International Youth Day, brought together selected young leaders for sessions on governance, diplomacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

Two students from the International Relations Department, School of Liberal Arts represented Noida International University in this prestigious platform:

  1. Nitin Sharma – B.A. (Hons) International Relations, V Semester
  2. Ishika Rattan – M.A. International Relations, III Semester

Day-Wise Participation Report

Day 1 – 4 August 2025 | FORE School of Management, New Delhi

The opening day featured interactive sessions with senior veterans of the Indian Armed Forces:

  • Lt. Gen. D.V. Kalra, PVSM, AVSM (Retd.)
    • Leadership is built on Discipline, Direction, and Decision.
    • Understanding problems before offering solutions.
    • Strategic thinking ensures long-term impact.
    • The “Time Jar” experiment emphasised effective use of time.
    • True leadership means bringing out the best in people and building strong teams.
  • Air Vice Marshal Rajeev Sharma (Retd.)
    • Introduced the SERVICE Model: Self-Discipline, Efficiency, Responsibility, Value-Driven Leadership, Integrity, Collaboration, Excellence.
    • Six R’s of Leadership: Requirement, Responsible, Resources, Resolve, Result, Relevance.
    • Key message: “Become a good human being before becoming a leader.”
  • Rear Admiral Amulpreet Singh Sethi, VSM (Retd.)
    • Addressed leadership challenges in integrating new technologies.
    • Stressed cybersecurity and adaptability in leadership roles.

Day 2 – 5 August 2025 | Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya

Participants visited the museum dedicated to India’s Prime Ministers:

  • Explored leadership legacies from Jawaharlal Nehru to Narendra Modi.
  • Reflected on vision, sacrifice, and responsibility in leadership.
  • Understood the importance of preserving institutional memory for future generations.

Day 3 – 6 August 2025 | Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi

Diplomatic engagements with BRICS nation representatives:

  • Brazil – Ms. Leticia Marranghello
    • Emphasised advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Global South.
    • Strengthening Indo-Brazil cultural partnerships.
  • Russia – Mr. Mikhail Antsiferov
    • BRICS as a multilateral platform for global stability.
    • Promoted education and cultural diplomacy for youth engagement.
  • South Africa – Mr. Peter Mahafha
    • Advocated for youth-led global cooperation and transformation.
  • China – Mr. Zhang Yefei
    • Youth as global ambassadors fostering dialogue, trade cooperation, and regional stability.
  • Amb. Amarendra Khatua
    • Highlighted youth employment, education, and skill development as policy priorities.

Day 4 – 7 August 2025 | Rashtrapati Bhavan

A visit to India’s highest constitutional office:

  • Observed the architecture, heritage, and democratic symbolism of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
  • Reflected on the link between civic engagement and national leadership.

Day 5 – 8 August 2025 | FORE School of Management

Focus on governance and administrative ethics:

  • Mr. Shashank Jaiswal, IPS – Civil servants’ role in policy implementation; importance of transparency for public trust.
  • Mr. Sukhad Chaturvedi, IRS – Bridging policy theory and practice; financial and digital literacy; empathy in governance.
  • Dr. Parvez Hayat, IPS – Ethics and anti-corruption principles in governance; institutional reforms for accountability.

Day 6 – 9 August 2025 | Strategic Grooming & Entrepreneurship

Sessions with business and leadership experts:

  • Mr. Prann Sharma – Leadership through travel, technology, and global logistics.
  • Mr. Bibin Babu – CEO mindset; localisation with global scope; 3 P’s: global language, design for world markets, profit with purpose.
  • Mr. Jitendra Sharma – From corporate roles to global entrepreneurship.
  • Mr. Vikas Dua – Building confidence, skills, and professional networks.
  • Mr. Anuj Gautam – Strategic grooming through Appearance, Behaviour, Presence.

Day 7 – 12 August 2025 | Closing Ceremony – Hyatt Regency, New Delhi

The program concluded with a certificate felicitation ceremony attended by:

  • Air Marshal Ravi Kapoor (Retd.)
  • Mr. He Meng – Embassy of China
  • Ms. Esraa Farghaly – Embassy of Egypt
  • Mr. Varun Chaudhary – CG Hospitality Holdings

Participants were awarded internationally recognised merit certificates and engaged in final networking sessions with dignitaries and fellow youth leaders.

Outcomes of Participation

  • Improved leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Strengthened understanding of BRICS cooperation and diplomacy.
  • Expanded professional networks with global leaders and institutions.
  • Practical exposure to governance, policy, and entrepreneurship.
  • Representation of NIU at a prestigious international youth forum.

Conclusion

The participation of Nitin Sharma and Ishika Rattan in the BRICS CCI Youth Leadership Dialogue 2.0 was a valuable experience that combined academic learning with real-world exposure. The program enhanced their professional skills, broadened their diplomatic perspective, and contributed to the reputation of Noida International University’s International Relations Department.
