Event Overview:

The School of Nursing successfully organized a one-day programme on “World Mental Health Day” on 17th October, 2025, at the SBM Seminar Hall and the School of Nursing. The event was designed to raise awareness about mental health issues and mobilise efforts to support mental well-being. The 2025 theme, “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies,” emphasizes ensuring timely mental health care for people affected by crises such as natural disasters, conflicts, and public health emergencies. create awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation and to educate participants about thalassemia – its causes, prevention, and management. Healthcare professionals, faculty members, and students actively participated in the programme, making it a significant initiative toward mental health promotion.

Objectives of the event:

  1. To promote awareness about mental health and reduce stigma surrounding mental illness.
  2. To highlight the significance of mental well-being during emergencies and crises.
  3. To encourage students to cultivate empathy, resilience, and mental health literacy.

The Chief Patron for the program was Dr Devesh Kumar Singh, Hon’ble Chairman,

Noida International University. He is an educationist and an academic leader with the vision, belief, value, understanding and work legacy of quality Education.

The Patron for the program was Dr Vikram Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor, Noida International University. He is an academic leader with the vision, conviction, appreciation, knowledge, and work legacy of high-quality education.

The Patron for the Program was Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Noida International University. She is a leader in higher education with the vision, conviction, appreciation, knowledge, and work ethic of great education.

The Patron for the Program was Prof. (Dr.) Tanveer Ahmad Wani, Dean – Quality Assurance & Accreditation, Noida International University. His vision for the Quality Assurance & Accreditation cell is to establish a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all academic and administrative processes of the university.

The Patron for the Program was Prof. (Dr.) Dipak Sethi, Director of the School of Nursing, Noida International University, guided and encouraged us throughout our program.

Programme Highlights:

The event began with an inaugural ceremony attended by faculty members and students. The Dean Sir addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of creating a mentally healthy campus environment.

Key segments of the celebration included:

  • Guest Lectures: Two distinguished speakers, Prof. (Dr.) Neetu Bhadouria, Principal, College of Nursing, Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, and Dr Swati Tyagi, MBBS, MD Psychiatry, Psychiatrist at Combined Hospital, Noida, delivered insightful and thought-provoking lectures. Prof. (Dr.) Neetu Bhadauria, focusing on “Mental Health and Resilience during Emergencies,” highlights coping mechanisms and addresses the role of community support in reducing stigma within educational institutions. Dr Swati Tyagi spoke on “Building Safe Spaces for Mental Health” and the importance of psychological first aid. Both lectures provided valuable perspectives, promoting awareness and preventive strategies for mental health challenges.
  • Playful Activities and Games: Students actively participated and enjoyed in mental health-themed games and playful activities designed to foster teamwork, relieve stress, and promote positive social interaction. These included Listen & quick action games, ice-breaker games, and mind exercises that tested knowledge of mental health facts and coping strategies.

Special Activities:

  • Creative Expressions: The event featured a Wall of Hope, a special installation, where students symbolise motivational words, collective encouragement, hope and mental strength among campus students.
  • Stone painting: The event also featured a small exhibition of painted stones created by nursing students, symbolizing hope and resilience. The display conveyed powerful messages promoting positivity and mental strength.

Prizes:

Winners of the Playful activities and games, stone painting and Wall of Hope were awarded prizes, motivating enthusiastic participation and recognizing their achievements.

Participation:

Outcomes of the Event:

  • The celebration successfully increased student engagement and awareness.
  • The guest lectures enriched participants’ understanding of the psychological impacts of crises and the need for accessible mental health services.

  • The Dean, Sir and esteemed guests cum speakers praised the event’s organization and encouraged ongoing mental health advocacy within the university.

It empowered students with knowledge, skills, and motivation to prioritize mental well-being and support peers, especially in challenging times.
