Introduction
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a critical life-saving technique that can be the difference between life and death in emergencies involving cardiac arrest. This report outlines the observations and evaluations from a recent CPR training program designed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge. The program aimed to enhance the participants’ ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
Training Objectives
The main objectives of the CPR training program were:
- To educate participants about the importance of CPR and its role in saving lives.
- To provide hands-on experience in performing CPR on adults, children, and infants.
- To familiarize participants with the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
- To empower participants with the confidence to act in emergency situations.
OVERVIEW OF EVENT
On october 09th, 2024, School of Nursing, Noida International university organized a training program on CPR Training Program in village nangoli at KAUSHAL (Job Oriented Vocational Training Project). The event was organized by the SON department under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Dipak Sethi, Dean, NIU.

TRAINING AGENDA
The training program was structured as follows:
- Introduction to CPR

- Importance of immediate response and the role of bystanders in emergencies.
- Understanding the Basics of CPR
- Anatomy and physiology of the heart.
- Overview of the CPR process: assessing the scene, calling for help, and performing CPR.
- Hands-On Practice
- Participants practiced CPR techniques on training mannequins.
- Scenarios included adult, child, and infant CPR.
- Using an AED
- Explanation of what an AED is and its importance in cardiac emergencies.
- Hands-on demonstration of AED usage.
- Scenario-Based Training
- Participants engaged in realistic scenarios to apply learned skills.
- Feedback was provided by the trainer.
- Q&A Session
- Open forum for participants to ask questions and clarify doubts.
OBSERVATIONS
- Trainer Effectiveness The trainers, [ Ms. Diksha Mehra, Ms. Yachika and Mr. Nikhil], demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in CPR techniques. Their ability to explain concepts clearly and relate them to real-life situations significantly enhanced participant engagement. The trainer encouraged interaction, fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Participant Engagement Participants actively engaged throughout the training. They asked questions, shared personal experiences related to emergencies, and participated enthusiastically in hands-on practice. Group dynamics were positive, with participants encouraging one another and working collaboratively during exercises.
- Hands-On Practice Hands-on practice was a significant component of the training. Participants worked with mannequins to practice chest compressions and rescue breaths. The trainer monitored each participant, providing individualized feedback. Many participants expressed that this practical component helped solidify their understanding and confidence in performing CPR.
- Environment and Equipment The training venue was well-equipped and conducive to learning. Mannequins, AED trainers, and instructional materials were readily available. The layout allowed for easy movement and interaction among participants, facilitating a more immersive learning experience.
- Knowledge Retention To assess knowledge retention, a brief quiz was administered at the end of the training. Most participants scored well, indicating a strong understanding of the material covered. The quiz included questions on CPR techniques, AED usage, and the chain of survival.
Feedback from Participants
Positive Aspects: Participants overwhelmingly reported a positive experience. Common feedback themes included:
- Increased Confidence: Many expressed that they felt more equipped to handle emergencies after the training.
- Practical Skills: Participants valued the hands-on practice, noting that it helped them feel more prepared to perform CPR if needed.
- Trainer’s Approach: The trainer’s friendly demeanor and willingness to answer questions were highly appreciated.
CONCLUSION
The CPR training program successfully met its objectives, equipping participants with essential skills and knowledge to respond effectively in emergencies. The interactive format, hands-on practice, and supportive trainer fostered an engaging learning environment. With minor adjustments based on participant feedback, future sessions can further enhance the effectiveness of the training, ultimately improving community preparedness for cardiac emergencies.
