Event Overview:

The School of Nursing, Noida International University, organized the Lamp Lighting Ceremony for B.Sc. Nursing 1st Semester and GNM 1st Year students on 28 November 2025 at the SBM Seminar Hall. The ceremony marked the formal induction of newly admitted nursing students into the noble profession of nursing, symbolizing service, compassion, and dedication.

Objectives of the Programme:

The ceremony is a traditional and significant event in nursing education. It represents:

  1. The students’ commitment to uphold the values of Florence Nightingale.
  2. Their entry into the clinical phase of professional nursing.
  3. The beginning of their journey toward ethical, empathetic, and quality patient care.

The Chief Patron for the program was Dr. Devesh Kumar Singh, Hon’ble Chairman,

NIU. He is an educationist and an academic leader with the vision, belief, value,

understanding and work legacy of quality Education.

The Chief Patron for the program was Dr. Vikram Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor, NIU.

He is an academic leader with the vision, conviction, appreciation, knowledge, and work legacy of high-quality education.

The Patron for the Program was Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor,

NIU. She is a leader in higher education with the vision, conviction, appreciation, knowledge,

and work ethic of great education.

Prof. (Dr.) Tanveer Ahmad Wani, Dean – Quality Assurance & Accreditation, NIU. His vision for the Quality Assurance & Accreditation cell is to establish a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all academic and administrative processes of the university.

Prof. (Dr.) Dipak Sethi Director School of Nursing, as the Convenor. He guided and

encouraged us throughout our program.

Programme Highlights:

 Welcome Address: Delivered by the Principal, School of Nursing.

 Lighting of the Lamp: Chief Guest and dignitaries initiated the lamp lighting followed by students lighting their candles as a symbol of knowledge and service.

 Oath Ceremony: Students recited the Nightingale Pledge with sincerity and enthusiasm.

 Cultural Performances: Students presented graceful performances that highlighted the values of the nursing profession.

 Address by Chief Guest & Guests: They encouraged students to be compassionate caregivers and emphasized professionalism, discipline, and continuous learning.

 Vote of Thanks: Concluded with appreciation to all faculty, staff, and students for making the event successful.

Outcomes of the Event:

The Lamp Lighting Ceremony successfully instilled a sense of responsibility, dedication, and commitment among the new nursing students. It served as a motivational beginning to their professional journey and strengthened their understanding of nursing ethics.
