Introduction

From Awareness to Action: Gender Justice in the 21st Century emphasizes the need to move beyond conversations toward concrete measures that ensure equality, dignity, and empowerment. It calls for collective responsibility in challenging stereotypes, reforming institutions, and building an inclusive society where justice is not just envisioned but lived.

In an academic institution, such discussions hold great significance as universities are not only centers of knowledge but also incubators of social responsibility and transformative leadership. The theme of gender justice resonates strongly with the role of higher education in shaping informed, sensitive, and socially responsible citizens. By engaging in conversations around gender rights, discrimination, stereotypes, and equity, students are empowered to challenge regressive norms and contribute towards building an inclusive and just society.

Aims/Objectives
The primary aim of the session “From Awareness to Action: Gender Justice in the 21st Century” was to sensitize students of the School of Liberal Arts towards the importance of gender equality and justice in contemporary times. Specific aim of this session was

  • To explore the challenges and opportunities in achieving gender justice in the 21st century.
  • To encourage actionable strategies that move beyond awareness and translate into meaningful change in policies, practices, and mindsets.
  • To foster dialogue that empowers communities and institutions to promote equality and inclusivity.

Content
The event “From Awareness to Action: Gender Justice in the 21st Century” was organized on 26th September 2025 at the SBM Seminar Hall, School of Liberal Arts, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, in an offline/online blended mode. The program began with a formal welcome address by the event coordinator Dr. Vinod Singh, and highlighted the importance of gender justice as a core value in academic and social spaces.

The session was graced by the presence of the esteemed resource person, Dr. Neelam Tyagi, who delivered an insightful lecture focusing on the conceptual foundations of gender justice, the challenges of gender inequality in the 21st century, and the role of youth in bridging the gap between awareness and practical action. She emphasized the impact of cultural stereotypes, legal frameworks, and institutional responsibilities in ensuring equality of opportunities and rights across genders.

The session “From Awareness to Action: Gender Justice in the 21st Century” successfully met its aims and objectives by meaningful dialogue and critical reflection among students of the School of Liberal Arts.
