A JAM session is a unique event where participants are given a topic on the spot and must speak on it for a minute without hesitation, repetition, or deviation. This format pushes the limits of a speaker’s spontaneity, clarity of thought, and ability to articulate ideas effectively within a short time frame.

Objective of the Event:

  • To help students develop quick thinking and clear articulation.
  • To improve students’ ability to organize thoughts in real-time.
  • To foster creativity and confidence in public speaking.
  • To provide a fun, interactive platform for peer-to-peer engagement.
  • To develop skills that are useful in academic presentations, interviews, and public forums.

Content:
The session featured various unique topics that ranged from everyday issues, current affairs, and abstract concepts, to thought-provoking ideas. Each participant was given a minute to speak without pause, maintaining consistency in their speech while staying relevant to the topic. Prof. (Dr.) Aparna Sharma, Dean, SLA encouraged the students and gave her insight to this activity, which will help the students to comprehend their ideas and articulate it, helping students to communicate effectively.

Outcome:
By the end of the session, several participants demonstrated enhanced verbal agility, improved articulation, and the ability to handle public speaking with greater confidence. The exercise proved to be both an entertaining and educational experience for all involved. The boost in confidence that this event has brought in several students will push them further to be a part of future endeavours in their university life or in near future during their professional life.

Conclusion:
The JAM session successfully met its objectives, allowing students to polish their public speaking skills while gaining confidence in spontaneous speech delivery. It was a great opportunity for participants to engage in the competition that stimulated learning and personal growth.
