Introduction:
The Department of International Relations had organized a field visit for our students to the Russian House in Delhi on October 14, 2025. The Russian House in New Delhi showcases modern Russia’s scientific, cultural, and artistic achievements through programs for residents and guests of the Indian capital. It regularly hosts diverse cultural events, including creative evenings with artists, exhibitions, concerts, performances, and academic forums like conferences and seminars. This visit was a mandatory component of their academic curriculum and formed part of their course assessment. The students of international relations have their curriculam where they will able to get the informationa or first hand information to get more acquinted with the diplomacy, culture and maintaing a good relationship with the difrrent nations. Throug this visit students will be able to understand about the fostering interdisciplinary dialogue among the Russian House authority and collaborative knowledge sharing.
Objectives: The primary objective of this visit is
- To analyze the institution’s role as a tool of public diplomacy and soft power.
- To identify and evaluate the programs that facilitate academic cooperation and people-to-people ties.
- To understand the strategic communication of the represented country’s foreign policy and national culture.
- To enhance the understanding and knowledge of our students, first-hand experience of the functioning of an international Institution and the principles of diplomacy.
The objectives of the visit were critically significant to the target group—including students, scholars, and policymakers—as they addressed the vital aspects of understanding diplomacy and international engagement. Furthermore, it offered students valuable first-hand exposure to the functioning of an international institution, thereby strengthening their comprehension of global diplomatic principles and practices.
Content:
he visit commenced at 9:30 a.m. from the NIU campus with 42 students from the Department of International Relations. After a long journey, the group arrived at the Russian House in New Delhi at 12:00 p.m. The students were warmly welcomed by Ms. Olga, one of the coordinators at the institution. The visit was structured into three informative sessions. During the first session, students toured the building, exploring its museum and art gallery that beautifully showcased Russia’s rich history and cultural heritage. In the second session, Ms. Anastasia delivered a detailed presentation highlighting various aspects of Russian culture, heritage, and scenic landscapes, which provided valuable insights into the country’s identity and traditions. The final session featured another engaging presentation by a representative from the Russian House, focusing on opportunities for higher education in Russia. The speaker explained the scope and possibilities available for Indian students, including scholarship options and admission procedures, thereby encouraging academic collaboration between India and Russia.
The session was followed by an interactive question-and-answer segment between the students and the panel members. The panelists enthusiastically responded to the queries, providing thoughtful and well-informed answers. The students showed great curiosity and engagement, asking insightful questions about Russian culture, traditions, educational systems, and the symbolic friendship between the elephant and the bear—representing the enduring relations between India and Russia. This lively exchange deepened the students’ understanding of cultural diplomacy and strengthened their appreciation of the historical bond between the two nations.
Outcome:
Outcome: The visit to the Russian House in New Delhi proved to be an insightful and intellectually stimulating experience for the students of the Department of International Relations. It enabled them to gain first-hand exposure to the functioning of an international institution and to understand the practical aspects of diplomacy and cultural exchange. Through well-structured sessions, the students explored Russia’s cultural and historical heritage, learned about study and scholarship opportunities, and engaged in meaningful discussions that broadened their perspectives on global cooperation. The interaction helped bridge theoretical learning with real-world diplomatic practices, fostering interdisciplinary knowledge and global awareness.
Conclusion:
By the end of the session, Dr. Manju Kundu, Visit In-Charge, highlighted the vision, mission, and achievements of Noida International University, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to global engagement and experiential learning. He conveyed heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Aparna Sharma (in absentia) for encouraging such initiatives that enhance students’ academic and professional development. Dr. Kundu, along with Dr. Jyotsana Misha and Dr. Vinod Kumar, presented tokens of gratitude and appreciation to the representatives of the Russian House for their warm hospitality and collaboration. The visit concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the bond of friendship between India and Russia and inspiring students to pursue excellence in the field of international relations.
