Event Overview
The School of Nursing organized a three-day event titled “Women Health Awareness Programme” from 24th to 26th September 2025, held at SBM Seminar Hall and NIIMS Hospital. The event was coordinated by Ms. Money Saxena, Ms. Lovely, and Mr. Sayyad Sadab Ali and aimed to promote community health awareness and social responsibility among students and staff.
The Chief Patron for the program was Dr. Devesh Kumar Singh, Hon’ble Chairman,
NIU. He is an educationist and an academic leader with the vision, belief, value,
understanding and work legacy of quality Education.

He is an academic leader with the vision, conviction, appreciation, knowledge, and work legacy of high-quality education.
The Patron for the Program was Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor,
NIU. She is a leader in higher education with the vision, conviction, appreciation, knowledge,
and work ethic of great education.
Prof. (Dr.) Tanveer Ahmad Wani, Dean – Quality Assurance & Accreditation, NIU. His vision for the Quality Assurance & Accreditation cell is to establish a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all academic and administrative processes of the university.
Prof. (Dr.) Dipak Sethi Director School of Nursing, as the Convenor. He guided and
encouraged us throughout our program.
The programme focused on one major objective:
- Women Health Awareness Programme – to educate women about crucial health issues such as menstrual hygiene, nutrition, reproductive health, early detection of diseases, and mental well-being.
The event featured interactive health talks, awareness sessions, and practical demonstrations conducted by healthcare professionals. It also saw enthusiastic participation from nursing students, faculty members, hospital staff, and members of the community. Overall, the initiative was a great success, significantly contributing to public health promotion and highlighting the role of nurses in community welfare.
Breast Self-Examination Workshop
A key highlight of the day was the Breast Self-Examination (BSE) Workshop. B.Sc 5thth and Bsc 1st semester students demonstrated the correct techniques for self-examination, emphasizing the importance of regular checks for early detection of abnormalities. Participants were provided with informative brochures and hands-on practice sessions to ensure they felt confident in performing BSE at home.
Educational Workshop
An Educational Workshop was conducted to provide in-depth knowledge about breast cancer, its risk factors, and the latest advancements in treatment options. The workshop aimed to dispel myths and provide factual information to empower women in making informed health decisions.
Awareness Campaign
The Awareness Campaign included a series of activities designed to spread knowledge about breast cancer prevention and early detection. Volunteers distributed pink ribbons and informational pamphlets throughout the hospital and nearby community. Social media platforms were also utilized to reach a broader audience, encouraging women to schedule regular mammograms and stay informed about their breast health.
To encourage participation and create a memorable experience, a Selfie Point was arranged at the event. This dedicated area was decorated with pink ribbons, motivational quotes, and a backdrop highlighting the importance of breast cancer awareness. Attendees were encouraged to take selfies and share them on social media with the hashtag #BreastCancerAwareness NIIMS. This initiative aimed to increase engagement and spread awareness beyond the event.
Conclusion
The Breast Cancer Awareness Day at NIIMS Hospital was a resounding success, with numerous women benefiting from the educational and supportive activities. The event underscored the importance of early detection, continuous education, and emotional support in the fight against breast cancer. By empowering women with knowledge and resources, NIIMS Hospital continues to play a crucial role in promoting breast health and supporting those affected by breast cancer.
