World Leprosy Day Awareness Programme – Department of Physiotherapy, NIU

On the occasion of World Leprosy Day, the Department of Physiotherapy, School of Allied Health Sciences, Noida International University, organized an educational visit to The Leprosy Mission Hospital, Nand Nagri, Delhi, on 30 January 2026. The programme aimed to create awareness about leprosy, its prevention, rehabilitation, and the importance of social inclusion.

The visit was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Supriya Awasthi, Dean, and coordinated by Dr. Pallavi Prakash, Program Coordinator, with active support from faculty members Dr. Rishika Yadav and Mr. Rajeev Kumar Singh. A total of 54 undergraduate BPT students actively participated in the awareness and cultural activities.

Students showcased their creativity and social responsibility through skits, speeches, poems, slogan writing, rangoli, folk dance, and patriotic songs, effectively addressing stigma and promoting early diagnosis and rehabilitation. It was a proud moment for the department as Physiotherapy students secured 1st position in the Rangoli Competition, and their skit and drama performances were highly appreciated.

The programme provided valuable experiential learning, offering students exposure to community-based and institutional rehabilitation practices, multidisciplinary care, and public health physiotherapy. The initiative aligned with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 4.4 (Quality Education), reinforcing NIU’s commitment to holistic education, ethical practice, and social responsibility.
