The Department of Optometry, School of Allied Health Sciences (SOAHS), Noida International University successfully conducted a Three-Day Hands-on Workshop on Scleral Contact Lens Fitting in collaboration with Silverline Laboratories.
The workshop was enriched by insightful sessions from scleral lens expert Mr. Gagan Sahni, Director, Professional Services, Silverline Laboratories and his team who shared extensive clinical experience in managing complex ocular surface disorders and specialty contact lens fitting. Their case-based approach and hands-on mentorship provided participants with practical, real-world insights into advanced scleral and RGP lens practice.
Day 1: Expert lectures on ocular surface disorders, corneal ectasia, and chemical burns with case-based discussions.
Day 2: One-to-one hands-on training on scleral lens insertion, removal, and slit-lamp-based fitting assessment.
Day 3: RGP lens fitting practical sessions followed by a valedictory ceremony.
A proud highlight of the event was the signing of an MOU between the Department of Optometry, SOAHS and Silverline Laboratories, strengthening academic–industry collaboration for advanced clinical training and research.
The workshop empowered students with practical expertise in specialty contact lens fitting and enhanced their clinical confidence.
