The Department of Physiotherapy, School of Allied Health Sciences, Noida International University, Celebrated World Cancer Day by organizing a Cancer Awareness Programme, reflecting the university’s strong commitment to health education and community awareness. The programme was conducted under the esteemed guidance and constant encouragement of Prof. (Dr.) Supriya Awasthi, Hon’ble Dean and Organizing Chairperson, whose inspiring leadership and support were central to the success of the event. The programme was organized under the able leadership and supervision of Dr. Pallavi Prakash, Program coordinator, dept. of Physiotherapy, whose dedication, guidance, and continuous support ensured the smooth and effective conduct of the programme. The event was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Rishika Yadav (PT) and Dr. Soniya Sharma (PT) as the Organizing Secretaries, whose sincere efforts and teamwork contributed greatly to the successful execution of all activities.
A major highlight of the programme was an informative and enlightening guest lecture on “Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Associated Cancers: An Overview” delivered by the eminent, learned, and highly respected speaker, Dr. M. K. Neyaz. His session provided clear, practical, and valuable information on cancer awareness, HPV-related cancers, preventive measures, the importance of vaccination, and early screening. The lecture was well received and greatly appreciated by students and faculty alike for its clarity and relevance.
To further promote awareness and student involvement, several creative competitions such as reel making, e-poster presentation, poem writing, drawing, and skit were organized. Students participated with great enthusiasm, confidence, and creativity. Sixth semester students secured 1st position in the E-Poster competition, second semester students won 1st position in the Reel Making competition, and fourth semester students secured 1st position in the Drawing competition. In addition, fourth semester students performed an impactful skit on cancer awareness, and two students from the fourth semester recited a thoughtful and meaningful poem on World Cancer Day, both of which received warm appreciation from the audience.
The programme proved to be highly motivating, informative, and inspiring, encouraging students to take an active role in cancer prevention and health education. Overall, the event reaffirmed Noida International University’s commitment to quality education, holistic student development, and social responsibility, in alignment with the objectives of World Cancer Day, and strengthened the role of future healthcare professionals in spreading health awareness.
