  1. INTRODUCTION

Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation that imitates the procedures of the United Nations Organisation, finding solutions for real world problems. Participants perform a role- play as a delegate of different countries and constituencies. An event as such, is of profound significance, especially at an age where democracy takes the lead and the world follows, helping the youth inculcate the spirit of democracy, decision making and governance.

The School of Liberal Arts, Noida International University organised a two- days Intra- University Model United Nations (NIUMUN 3.0.), on 24th-25th of March 2026, wherein it proposed three different committees: UNGA (United Nations General Assembly), AIPPM (All India Political Party Meet) and the IP (International Press). The committees proceeded with their respective agendas, where the participants engaged in debates and discussions on the same. The agendas of both the committees are mentioned below:

  1. UNGA: Multipolar Illusion or Superpower Standoff? The Hybrid Rivalry and the Battle over Sovereignty and Global Trade. (Linked with SDG 8, 9, 16, 17)
  1. AIPPM: Social Justice or Revival of Divide and Rule? UGC Reforms and Reservation in Institutions of National Importance. (Linked with SDG 4, 10, 16).

The event aimed to foster a critical discourse on the rapidly changing world order, the causes, implications and significance of the transition to multipolarity in addition to shedding light on India’s domestic policies, its implication, cause and significance. The respective committees questioned, discussed, debated around the given agendas thus bringing in new solutions, perspectives and new dimensions.

  1. AIMS and OBJECTIVES

The primary aim of the event was to bring in students of all disciplines under the roof of global affairs and international politics. The main objectives of the event are listed below:

  • Foster interest in International Relations and global affairs among students.
  • To provide students with a platform to develop their research, public speaking and negotiation skills.
  • To promote critical thinking and improve problem solving aptitude of the students.
  • To create a collaborative and inclusive environment for students from diverse backgrounds.

DAY 1

The Intra- University Model United Nations 3.0. (NIUMUN 3.0.) was conducted on 24th and 25th of March 2026 at the Academic Block, Noida International University. The two- day event commenced with a formal Inaugural Ceremony. The Ceremony started with a formal welcome by the student coordinators, followed by an official welcome address by respected Dean of SLA Dr. Aparna Sharma thus extending warm welcome to our respected Chief Guest Shri Ashok Kumar Sharma, former Ambassador of India to Estonia and Finland along with the honourable Chairs for the event, Miss Arushi Anthal and Shri Pranay Pratap Singh.

The next segment of the Inaugural Ceremony was the key address by the Chief Guest Shri Ashok Kumar Sharma. He addressed the gathering and spoke with a conviction that resonated through the entire hall. Ambassador Sharma guided the delegates with rich information about both the agendas seamlessly blending the data with personal experiences from his years in the field. Ambassador Sharma’s insights and invaluable guidance helped the delegates navigate their ways through the course of the event.

Shortly after the wrap up of inaugural ceremony, the delegates were escorted to their respective committees, The chairs of the both the committees commenced with their sessions, thus opening floors for discussions, debate and deliberations. The delegates quickly took over, thereby marking the start of two days of continuous negotiations, debates and discussions.

The committees witnessed intense discussions, heated debates and numerous new opinions on the said agendas, thereby catering to the purpose of the event. The Chairs guided the delegates throughout which ensured a disciplined ambience. The faculty and student coordinators ensured smooth proceedings of the session throughout. The International Press documented all the relevant discourses and put forth the questions of relevance.

All the participants and the Chairs were then served lunch, post which the session continued till the end of day. Day 1 of NIUMUN 3.0. concluded with a lot of questions on the minds of the participants coupled with the enthusiasm to come with answers the next day. The whole session was very engaging, full of active participations and filled with fun.

DAY 2

The second and final day of the event commenced early at 9:30 am. The delegates dressed beautifully in traditional attire took the event to the next level. Between all the questions raised and answers given, NIUMUN 3.0. witnessed a quiet breeze of confidence, enthusiasm and contentment in the air. The sessions in Day 2 were divided into moderated and unmoderated caucus, similar to day 1, wherein debates took place, allies formed and resolutions were passed.

In the session of AIPPM, the resolution of the INDIA alliance was passed in counter to the resolution of NDA Alliance. The resolution aimed to build a system less divisive and more inclusive. In the session of UNGA, the resolution led the US Alliance was passed which focused on upholding democratic values leading a march towards a multipolar world.

Post the passing of resolutions and bills in both the sessions, the delegates and the chairs were escorted to the seminar hall in SBM Building for the Valedictory Session.

The Valedictory session started with great excitement and enthusiasm among all the members involved in the event. In the valedictory session of MUN 3.0 at Noida International University, Dr. Manju Kundu, the Convenor from the School of Liberal Arts, elucidated the key details of the two-day program and formally presented the event report. It commenced with felicitation of the sponsors- Brewmorr and Chatori Adda, followed by the prize distribution ceremony.

  3. Third Best Delegate: Anshi Prakash (Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan)

  2. Second Best Delegate: Khushi Rathore (Delegate of Russia)
  3. Third Best Delegate: Siddhant Pant (Delegate of USA)

Post the celebration of the winners and the rest of the delegates, the event came to a close. Respected Dean Dr. Aparna Sharma, chairperson of the MUN, delivered the Vote of Thanks and formally concluded the session with the announcement of the next MUN 4.0. 2027.

4.OUTCOME

The NIUMUN 3.0. successfully achieved its expected outcomes, some of which are listed below:

  1. Research and Critical Thinking: Delegates mastered policies quickly and analysed complex topics under time constraints, which helped them level up their research skills and critical thinking ability.
  1. Public Speaking and Confidence: Daily speeches and debates hone articulate, persuasive delivery in formal impromptu settings.
  1. Negotiation and Diplomacy: Forming blocs, compromising on drafts and lobbying build a tactful persuasion and alliance building.
  1. Teamwork and Leadership: Collaborative resolution writing and leading caucuses foster adaptability, empathy and initiative in high pressure groups.
  1. CONCLUSION

In conclusion, our two-day Model United Nations (NIUMUN 3.0.) was a big success. Over 132 delegates came together to debate on various issues complying with the agendas, passed strong resolutions and won awards. Students must have enjoyed the event and Each one of us gained something like public speaking ability, confidence, team building and critical thinking. This event underscored MUN’s role in fostering future global citizens equipped to navigate real world complexities, inspiring continued engagement in international discourse.
