Report on AIDS Day Celebration

Introduction:

World AIDS Day on December 2, 2024, with an event aimed at raising awareness about HIV/AIDS. The celebration included a quiz competition, role play, debate, and poster competition, each designed to educate and engage the community.

The Chief Patron for the program was Dr. Devesh Kumar Singh, Hon’ble Chairman, NIU. He is an educationist and an academic leader with the vision, belief, value, understanding and work legacy of quality Education.

The Chief Patron for the program was Dr. Vikram Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor, NIU. He is an academic leader with the vision, conviction, appreciation, knowledge, and work legacy of high-quality education.

The Patron for the Program was Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, NIU. She is a leader in higher education with the vision, conviction, appreciation, knowledge, and work ethic of great education.

Prof. (Dr.) Dipak Sethi Director School of Nursing, as the Convenor. He guided and encouraged us throughout our program.

Event Highlights:

Quiz Competition:
Participants tested their knowledge on HIV/AIDS, covering topics like transmission, prevention, and global efforts. The Team A Ms. Neelu and Ms. Sakshi winner of the quiz received certificates and prizes.

Role Play:
Students of B.sc and G.N.M 1st year performed Nukkad Natak at NIIMS hospital OPD at 12 pm., that depicted the emotional and social impacts of HIV/AIDS, focusing on stigma, early diagnosis, and support for affected individuals.

Debate:
A debate on the topic “Take a right path to my health and my life ” sparked insightful discussions on privacy, public health, and early detection. Mr. Amit Kumar Yadav GNM 1st year Winner of the debate.

Poster Competition:
Departmental posters creatively addressed HIV/AIDS prevention, stigma reduction, and treatment. The top three posters were awarded prizes. All the international students were participating in the poster making. Ms. Rahma B.SC 1st year is the winner of poster making competition.

Conclusion:
The event successfully raised awareness and encouraged a supportive dialogue on HIV/AIDS. NIIMS remains dedicated to promoting education and action in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
