The “Infection Associated Human Cancer” expert talk, organized by the Techrise Visionaries Technical Club, School of Engineering and Technology, NIU, was held on Friday, 10 May 2024 at the Seminar Hall of NIU. The event aimed to discuss in detail “infection-associated human cancer” and to create awareness about HPV infection, HPV vaccination in India, and Cervical, and Oral Cancer. Additionally, the event was also intended to promote interdisciplinary collaboration among students and faculty members to enhance the research environment in the department.

Event Highlights:

Keynote Addresses: Distinguished guest speaker Dr. Mausumi Bharadwaj, FAScT, FNASc, Scientist G & Head Molecular Biology Group, ICMR-National Institute for Cancer Prevention and Research (ICMR-NICPR), Noida. Dr. Bharadwaj is a very renowned scientific face in the Indian Council of Medical Research and she is a Chairperson/Co-Chairperson/Member in many of the Project Review Committees of various funding agencies like ICMR, DHR, etc. She has supervised 25 Ph. D Thesis, 15 MD/MS Thesis, 16 Post-Doctoral researchers, and an internship program for more than 1000 UG and PG students of various non-medical and medical streams. She has published more than 140 research articles in various SCI Journals. Her H-Index is around 35 and has about 4000 citations. Dr. Bharadwaj is a renowned expert in the field of HPV infection, HPV vaccination in India, cervical, and oral cancer. Dr. Bharadwaj delivered keynote addresses on various aspects of HPV infection, and cervical cancer/Oral Cancer, including its prevalence, risk factors, early detection, and treatment options. The fascinating aspect of the talk was when Dr. Bharadwaj talked about the impact of Human Papillomavirus on male fertility.
