Vision Screening Camp for Children at BPBD International School

The Department of Optometry, School of Allied Health Sciences organized a vision screening camp for children at BPBD International School as part of the World Sight Week celebrations. The event focused on early detection of common vision problems, under the theme “Love Your Eyes, Kids.”

Parents and teachers were provided with detailed reports of each child’s screening results, along with recommendations for further consultations or treatments when required. The camp highlighted the need for regular vision checkups, particularly in the early years, to avoid future complications.

Outcomes:

  • Number of Children Screened: 145
  • Children Referred for Further Evaluation: 62
  • Common Vision Issues Detected:
    • Refractive errors (e.g., myopia, hyperopia)
    • Amblyopia (lazy eye)
    • Strabismus (crossed eyes)
  • Educational Outreach: Parents and teachers were given materials on eye care and the importance of maintaining regular eye exams.
