Introduction:

The International Seminar on “Gender and Society: A Global Perspective” was held on 30th September 2025 in a hybrid mode at Noida International University’s Seminar Hall, SBM Building. The seminar aimed to explore social constructs of gender and their impact across different societies, focusing on themes like gender equality, women’s rights, and social norms globally. The event attracted scholars, researchers, academicians, activists, and industry professionals involved in gender studies and social justice, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and collaborative knowledge sharing.

Objectives:

  • To examine the gender roles and identities influence various aspects of society and other stake holders.
  • To raise awareness about gender-based cyber abuse and understand the legal rights for women.
  • To provide a platform for students, scholars, activists, and policymakers to share research, insights, and experiences.

The objectives of the seminar was critically important to the target group—including students, scholars, activists, and policymakers—because they had addressed pressing societal challenges and empower each stakeholder to make informed, impactful contributions.

Content:

The inaugural ceremony commenced with a traditional lamp lighting by the Chief Guest along with the other digitinaries. In the absence of university patrons our Honorable Chancellor Sir, Honorable Vice Chancellor ma’am, Prof. (Dr.) Aparna Sharma, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, who eloquently introduced the seminar’s central theme and outlined its objectives, setting an inspiring tone for the event. Following this, the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Sushma Yadav, shared profound insights, engaging the audience with her extensive expertise and raising awareness about the importance and scope of gender studies in contemporary society. Our distinguished guest, Prof. (Dr.) Anil Sehrawat, delivered a deeply thoughtful and invigorating address that profoundly resonated with the audience. He highlighted the significance of ongoing research and collaboration in addressing contemporary societal challenges related to gender and inclusivity. His inspiring perspectives not only enriched the seminar’s intellectual atmosphere but also motivated participants to engage actively in future scholarship and advocacy efforts. The keynote addresses by Laurie A. Baker-Malungu EdD, Prof. (Dr.) Adhya Bharti Saxena, and Prof. (Dr.) Alka Munjal enriched the proceedings by emphasizing global gender perspectives and fostering academic partnerships. Their thoughtful words guided participants toward nuanced understanding and collaboration.

Both the technical sessions were dynamic and multidisciplinary, covering a range of themes such as eco-feminism and environmental justice, legal frameworks for women’s empowerment, mainstreaming third gender issues, and innovative research on gender representation in media. The two distinct technical sessions were expertly chaired by distinguished national and international scholars, including Dr. Neelam Tyagi, Dr. Bhawana Guar, and Prof. (Dr.) Anil Sehrawat, who ensured the smooth conduct and scholarly rigor of the proceedings. These diverse discussions provided a comprehensive platform for critical dialogue, reflection, and the sharing of pioneering research among participants from various backgrounds. The seminar report was presented by the Joint Conveners, Dr. Manju Kundu and Dr. Sangeeta Mishra, who accurately highlighted that the total number of participants exceeded forty, reflecting a diverse and engaged audience. The Abstract Volume was officially released during the session, containing 38 abstracts that showcase a wide range of innovative research contributions aligned with the seminar theme. This publication not only serves as a valuable academic record but also provides participants and scholars with a comprehensive resource for further study and collaboration. The conveners expressed appreciation for the active participation and scholarly rigor demonstrated throughout the seminar, and presented a token of thanks for the opportunity.

Outcome:

The seminar successfully met its objectives by creating awareness and understanding of multifaceted gender issues in a global context. It enabled knowledge exchange between international and national scholars. Participants praised the seminar’s rigorous organization and inspiring dialogue, noting that the hybrid format allowed wider participation and richer exchange of ideas in real time. They also appreciated the platform to share their research and experiences, fostering a spirit of social responsibility and advocacy.

Conclusion:

The event concluded with a valedictory session led by Dr. Supriya Banerjee and Prof. (Dr.) Kishor Kumar, summarizing key insights and expressing gratitude to the speakers, participants, and organizing team. Dr.Arijit Ghosh who hosted the the valedicatory session, acknowledgments were given to the university leadership, patrons, and coordinators for their support. Dr. Aparna Sharma has official presented the formal vote of thanks. She acknowledged the university leadership, including Chairman Dr. Devesh Kumar Singh, Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Vikram Singh, and Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj, whose vision and support were vital for the event’s success. Dr. Aparna extened her gratitutred to all the guests and speakers. She mentioned everyone out there who directely and indirectly provide the support and contributed in the success for the International seminar. The seminar set the foundation for future interdisciplinary research and events promoting gender equality and societal transformation.
