Summary

· School of Allied Health Sciences, Noida International University organized a one- day trip to 37th International Surajkund Crafts Mela in Faridabad, Haryana on 09,12,13th February, 2024.
· The trip was organized under the supervision and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Supriya Awasthi, Head, School of Allied Health Sciences for the final year , 3rd year and 4th semester students studying in the school.

Department wise trip was organized
 Day 1 :09 Feb,24 – Approx 45 students were joined by 3 faculty members of the department of BND, BRIT, BOPTM
Day 2 : 12, Feb, 24 – Approx 45 students were joined by 3 faculty members of the department of BPT, BCT.
Day 3: 13, Feb, 24 – Approx 45 students were joined by 3 faculty members of the department of BMLT, BOTT .

This day long trip which went on from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.

The 37th Surajkund Crafts Mela, which runs from February 2–18, 2024, has a theme of “Cultural Tapestry of Gujarat”. The theme highlights the rich cultural heritage of Gujarat, which includes its skilled artisans and craftsmen. 

The mela is known for its handicrafts, including pottery, textiles, carpets, woodwork, and metalwork. 

The fairgrounds, including decorations and stalls, will be decorated with elements representing the rich heritage of Gujarati culture. 

The 2024 mela will feature active participation from more than 20 countries in South Asia, Africa, and Europe. 

Tanzania will participate as the Partner Nation in the craft mela.

The mela considered one of the largest handicraft fairs in South Asia. The fair showcases a variety of traditional art, handicrafts, and cultural performances from different states of India and countries from around the world.

· This trip proved to be a very rich and knowledgeable experience for all the students. They got exposure to and learned a lot about the rich cultural and traditional heritage of India and the participating countries. They also enjoyed various crafts, cultural displays, traditional music, dance forms and food displayed and offered by the participating states and countries.
