Prof. Jagadeesh Bayry is a graduate of Veterinary Medicine from Bengaluru with a specialization of Virology and Immunology from Indian Veterinary Research Institute. He received PhD in Immunology from Sorbonne University, Paris and did a post-doctoral research at University of Oxford. In 2006, he joined French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) at Paris as a tenured faculty and in 2018, he became Director of Research in the same institute. In 2021, he joined Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad as a Professor and is heading the Department of Biological Sciences and Engineering. He has also served as a Dean at IIT Palakkad until March 2024. Prof. Bayry’s research is aimed at fundamental Immunology, autoimmunity, immunotherapy and host-pathogen interaction. His h-index is 73 and has authored more than 300 articles in diverse international journals including Nature, New England Journal of Medicine, Science Immunology, Lancet Respiratory Medicine, Journal of Allergy & Clinical Immunology, Nature Communications, Blood, PNAS, Nature Reviews, Journal of Infectious Diseases, mBio, Trends Journals, and others with >18,000 citations. Eight articles of Prof. Bayry have been listed so far as highly cited papers (top 1%) by Clarivate Analytics. He has 27 patents, has delivered more than 100 talks in prestigious institutions and conferences, and has guided more than 43 doctoral, post-doctoral and master fellows. Between 2016-2022, Prof. Bayry served as a member of a commission at European Research Council (ERC). He has also served as an Advisory committee member for the Dutch Research Council. Prof. Bayry has uninterruptedly featured in the list of the Top 2% Scientists of the world released by Stanford University. He has been elected as a Fellow of Academy of Translational Medicine Professionals, Vienna, Austria in 2016 and Fellow of Indian Association of Veterinary Microbiologists, Immunologists and Specialists in Infectious Diseases in 2024. Prof. Bayry serves as an Editor, Associate Editor or Editorial Board member of various journals like Frontiers in Immunology, Cellular & Molecular Immunology, Immunobiology, Discovery Medicine, Scientific Reports, Immunotherapy, Antibodies, PLoS ONE, Frontiers in Molecular Medicine, Virusdisease, and has edited four books for Springer-Nature.
