Pre-Arrival Information

Here’s everything you’ll need to ensure a smooth transition as you embark on your academic journey!

Before you set out, make sure you have the following documents:

  • Passport Size Photographs: Approximately 15 photos.
  • Driving License: Bring your valid driving license.
  • Sufficient Funds: Ensure you have enough money to cover your initial expenses until you can open a bank account.
  • National Attire: Pack one set of your national attire for university functions.
  • Document Backup: Keep digital copies of all important documents and leave photocopies with parents or friends for safekeeping.
  • Admission Letter: Bring your Admission Letter issued by the university, along with all required certificates, degrees, and original transcripts.

  • Check Airline Restrictions: Many airlines impose weight or size limits, so verify these before you leave.
  • Warm Clothing: Pack enough warm clothing for your flight and your stay in Noida during the winter months.

  • Health Precautions: Ensure you are vaccinated against illnesses such as Yellow Fever, Typhoid, Hepatitis, etc., to avoid medical complications while in India.
  • Medical Insurance: It is strongly advised that international students obtain medical insurance.

  • Temperature Variations: Delhi experiences significant temperature changes depending on the season.
    • Summer (April-July): Temperatures range from 25°C to 45°C. Dress in light, cotton clothing, wear a hat or sunshade outdoors, and stay hydrated.
    • Winter (December-January): Temperatures range from 22°C to 5°C. Wear warm or woolen clothing to stay comfortable.

  • Travel to NIU: After arriving at IGI Airport in New Delhi, you can hire private cabs to reach Noida International University (NIU). This is one of the most convenient transportation options available.

  • Accommodation Confirmation: Ensure you have confirmation of your accommodation, including the full address and telephone number. Inform the International Division at least one week before your arrival.
  • Money Handling: You can carry your money in the form of Traveler’s Cheques or use International Debit/Credit Cards.

  • Funds for Initial Period: Have enough funds to last until you can open a bank account, which may take some time.
  • Documents Needed: To open a bank account in Greater Noida, you may need:
    • A copy of your passport
    • Unconditional Offer Letter from the university
    • Proof of your address both at the university and overseas
    • Passport size photographs
    • Any additional documents requested by the bank
