SCIENCE DAY 5 JUNE 2021

School of Sciences (Noida International University) celebrated “World Environment Day” on 5th June, 2021. On this occasion a webinar was organized on the theme: Ecosystem Restoration via google meet in collaboration with other eminent resource partners. The objective of webinar was to create awareness about the use of sustainable resources and its relation with the well being of human health and ecology as well.

Our honorable Chief Guest was Prof. (Dr.) Vikarm Singh, Chancellor, Noida International University, and the Guest of Honour was Prof. (Dr.) P. K. Gupta, Chief Advisor, Noida International University. The convener of the webinar was Dr. Lomas Tomar, Director, SOS, & CO-convener was Dr. M. Zuhaib HOD Agriculture NIU. Panelists included national and international experts working the field of environment. These were- 1. Dr. Meraj Khan, Clinical Scientist, University of Toronto, Canada 2. Dr. B. R. Singh, Director, SMS, Lucknow. 3. Dr. Kumar Suranjit, Department of Environmental Science, Allahabad University.

On 5th June, 2021, the event started with a welcome speech by Dr. Namrata Dudha, welcoming the distiniguished speaker and participants at 9:00 am. She shared a brief biography of Dr. Meraj Khan. Dr. Khan gave a lecture on “Ecosystem and lung diseases”. He explained the impact of changing abiotic components of ecosystem on human health. The session was taken over by Dr. B. R. Singh who highlighted the need of mitigation steps and preparation of management plans.

The event continued with the lecture of Dr. Kumar Suranjit in which he discussed various environmental issues that have risen due to climate change and global warming. He emphasized the use of green technology for the conservation and sustainable development.

All the lectures were concluded with a Q&A session moderated by Dr. Namrata Dudha where participant’s queries were answered by the speakers. Vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Lomas Tomar. The event was followed by a valedictory and feedback session from participants.
