Beyond the Culture Plate: Tracking AMR

The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, School of Allied and Healthcare Sciences (SOAHS), Noida International University, organized “Beyond the Culture Plate: Tracking AMR” on 24th September 2026 from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The event focused on the theme “The Silent Threat: Tracking Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in the Clinical Lab.”

The programme commenced with the inauguration and welcome address, followed by an expert talk by Prof. Dr. N.P. Singh, Department of Microbiology, NIIMS, who discussed the clinical challenges associated with antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial stewardship, and the emergence of superbugs in healthcare settings.

The event also featured a student poster presentation activity, in which BMLT students presented posters highlighting various aspects of AMR and the role of clinical laboratories in its detection, monitoring, and control. The presentations were evaluated by judges based on predefined criteria.

The programme emphasized the important role of Medical Laboratory Science professionals in combating AMR through accurate pathogen identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, antibiogram profiling, molecular diagnostics, and surveillance. The event provided students with an opportunity to enhance their scientific knowledge, presentation skills, and understanding of the laboratory's contribution to antimicrobial stewardship and patient safety.
