Skill based Workshop-Terracotta Sculpture

School of Fine Arts organized a Terracotta Sculpture workshop from 23rd & 24th February 2023 in SFA Sculpture Studio.
Terracotta was one of the major attractions in the history of India, but unfortunately, people do not show interest in the practical application (ecology practices) of terracotta in the concrete and plastic era. This skill based workshop is organized in offline mode. After the workshop you can enjoy the outcomes as an exhibition display.
In the workshop the Department also invited a guest speaker, external expert Dr. Abhijit Kumar Mohanty, Ass. Professor, Amity University Gurugram, his practices comprises Modern design thinking, creative ideas for entrepreneurship. He took an interactive session with the students about “Modern design thinking with the traditional mediums” in virtual mode. The internal resource person for this Workshop was– Dr. Umesh Chandra Nayak, (Acting HoD – School of Fine Arts, NIU).
In this workshop the students have learnt about different processes for toys, tiles making and also sculpture making. At the end of the Workshop the students have a feedback session with the faculty coordinators and resource person so that we get to know about the feedback as well as the learning of the students.
50 students have participated in this Clay modeling workshop for the School of Architecture and School of Fine Arts.
Outcomes/Benefits: The students get to learn about the different process of clay modeling, terracotta process and also how they can use this for their career prospects as an artist, architect or interior designer, muralist. They got the knowledge & exposure about how that terracotta sculpture can be an integrated part of the architecture or interior design. They also get to know how to use this methodology for generating different effects on the product design and models.
