International Day of Radiology is celebrated every year on 8th of November to mark the discovery of X-rays by Sir Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen in the year 1895. The theme of International Day of Radiology 2023 was “Patient Safety.” This theme emphasizes the importance of the professional role, maintaining the efficiency of healthcare systems & in ensuring patient safety beyond radiation protection. Department of Radiology and Imaging Technology, School of Allied Health Sciences, Noida International University organised the event on 8th of November 2023 and the day was celebrated with great enthusiasm. Honourable Vice-Chancellor Dr. Uma Bhardwaj, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Parsanjeet Kumar, respected Registrar Dr. Mukesh Parashar, Dr. Supriya Awasthi (Head of SOAHS) and Prof. Vijender Kumar(Guest Speaker) graced the event with their presence, adding a sense of importance to the occasion. Prof. Vijender Kumar having the work experience of 34 yrs in the Department of Radiology in India and overseas. Currently he is working as professor ,College of Nursing , Holy Family Hospital, New Delhi. He graced the event by sharing his valuable knowledge on patient safety and his experience among the student’s creating awareness on patient safety in radiology department. Dr. Supriya Awasthi, Head , SOAHS gave her insight on importance of patient safety concerns in different radiological procedures with the students.
The Students participated with a great zeal and enthusiasm in various competitions and activities to celebrate the day. Students gave oral presentation and poster presentation to share knowledge on different radiology topics. The event started with a lamp lightening ceremony, followed by Saraswati Vandana, Ganesh Vandana and so on. Also, students were given a chance to showcase their talents other than academic like singing, dancing and so on. The department felicitated Md Babar for his academic performance. The faculty members (Ms. Rashi Saraswat, Ms. Saloni Martolia, Ms. Tapasya Bhardwaj, Ms. Andleeb Showkat) of Department of Radiology and Imaging Technology put their best efforts in making the event successful. The event ended with a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest Prof. Vijender Kumar, Head of SOAHS Dr. Supriya Awasthi, faculty members and the students of SOAHS. The event turned out to be a great success.
