Introduction

The 1st International Conference on “Future of Pharmacy: AI-Driven Solutions or Challenges for Enhanced Healthcare” was successfully held on 22nd March 2025 at the Seminar Hall, Administrative Block of Noida International University. The event was organized in association with Akhil Bhartiya Pharmacist Association (ABPA) and Pharmalogy Health Foundation. The conference brought together a diverse group of professionals, researchers, and students from the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors to explore the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the future of pharmacy.

The conference began with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, marking the auspicious start of the event. This symbolic act was performed by the distinguished Chief Guest Dr. Montu Kumar M. Patel (President, Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi) and Dr. Atul Nasa (Executive Committee Member, PCI), Guest of honour Dr. Vibhu Sahani, Mr. Dharmendra Singh, Dr. Vijay Bhalla, Dr. Kamla Pathak, Shree Km. Ajay, Dr. Ajit Kumar Singh, Prof. Dr. Navneet Verma and Dr. Akash Ved , Vice chancellor Dr. Uma Bhardwaj, Registrar Dr. Mukesh Parashar and Dean, School Of Pharmacy Dr. Sameer Rastogi, invoking the blessings of knowledge and wisdom for the successful proceedings of the conference. Dr. Sameer Rastogi, the Conference Coordinator, warmly welcomed all the participants, guests, and speakers to the conference. He expressed his gratitude to Noida International University, ABPA, and Pharmalogy Health Foundation for their support and collaboration in organizing this event.

Welcome of Chief Guest and Guest of Honour 

The chief guest Dr. Montu Kumar M. Patel and Dr. Atul Nasa, and the Guest of honour (Dr. Vibhu Sahani, Mr. Dharmendra Singh, Dr. Vijay Bhalla, Dr. Kamla Pathak, Shree Km. Ajay, Dr. Ajit Kumar Singh, Prof. Dr. Navneet Verma and Dr. Akash Ved), were formally welcomed with Bouquets, Shawls and Good luck plants. Their presence set the tone for a successful and enriching day ahead.

Dr. Sameer Rastogi, the Dean of the Faculty of School of Pharmacy at Noida International University, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of integrating AI into pharmacy for improving healthcare systems. He highlighted the role of research and collaboration in fostering innovation and the future of healthcare. The management team including Vice chancellor and Registrar also extended their best wishes for a successful conference.

Chief Guest’s Speech

Dr. Atul Nasa, in their speech, applauded the efforts of the organizing bodies in bringing together professionals and experts to discuss AI in pharmacy. The chief guest discussed the potential challenges and opportunities that AI could bring to the pharmacy sector, urging the audience to explore ways in which technology can enhance patient care, streamline drug discovery, and improve healthcare delivery.

Scientific Session

The scientific session commenced with the keynote addresses by eminent speakers in the field.

  • Keynote Speaker 1: Tanveer Naved (Dy. Dean, Health and Allied Science Domain, Professor, Amity University, Noida U.P.), also an expert in AI in Healthcare, presented on “Role of AI in Healthcare and Smart Care.”
  • Keynote Speaker 2: Dr. S. Sadish Kumar, a renowned academician and Director of ITS College of Pharmacy, Ghaziabad, U.P., spoke on “Marine Drugs: AI Based Solutions for Future Healthcare.”

The session covered a range of topics such as AI in Disease Diagnosis and Prediction, AI in Drug Discovery and Clinical Trials, Future Trends of AI in Healthcare, Marine Drug Discovery and Applications, AI in Marine Pharmacology Research and the ethical implications of AI in healthcare.

After the scientific session, a lunch break provided an opportunity for networking and informal discussions between participants, speakers, and attendees. The conference was lightened up with a vibrant dance performance by the students of SOP, Noida International University, showcasing the rich cultural diversity of the region. The performance was met with great appreciation and applause from the attendees.

The conference featured a session with online speakers, like Dr. Debadatta Mohapatra (Postdoctoral Researcher, Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto, Canada), a leading researcher in AI applications in pharmacy. The speaker delivered an insightful lecture and despite being virtual, the session was highly engaging and well-received by the audience.

Oral and Poster Presentations

Participants presented their research findings during the oral and poster sessions. The oral presentations were scheduled across multiple sessions, focusing on topics such as AI-enhanced pharmacy education, AI in drug interactions, and computational models for drug repurposing. Poster presentations allowed researchers to showcase their innovative work on AI and pharmacy, fostering discussions and knowledge exchange among peers. The Scientific evaluators for Oral Presentations were Dr. Shalini Sawhney and Dr. Shibha Singh. For Poster presentations were Dr. Maqsood Ali, Dr. Sanjay Yadav, Dr. Meenakshi Pandey and Dr. Manas Das.

Award Ceremony and Prize Distribution

The event culminated in an award ceremony, where the best oral and poster presentations were recognized. The winners received certificates and trophies for their outstanding contributions to the field of pharmacy and AI. The awards were distributed by the chief guest and other dignitaries.

The conference concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Priti Tiwari, the organizing secretary of the conference. She expressed gratitude to all the speakers, guests, participants, and volunteers who made the event a resounding success. Special thanks were extended to Noida International University, ABPA, and Pharmalogy Health Foundation for their unwavering support.

Conclusion

The 1st International Conference on “Future of Pharmacy: AI-Driven Solutions or Challenges for Enhanced Healthcare” proved to be an enriching and enlightening experience for all those involved. The discussions on the applications, opportunities, and challenges of AI in pharmacy sparked new ideas and collaborations, contributing to the growth of this rapidly evolving field. The event was a huge success in fostering knowledge exchange and preparing the pharmacy sector for an AI-driven future.
