Seminar and Workshop on Art Criticism, Contemporary art practices and Writing

School of fine arts organized a Seminar and Workshop on 11th march 2022 in the SFA department on Art Criticism, Contemporary art practices and Writing by welcoming the Chief Guest Ms. Pranamita Borgohain, Founder/Curator at Shield Art Initiative, New Delhi. Event was inaugurated by Honorable Vice Chancellor Mam Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj and Pro Vice Chancellor Sir, Prof. (Dr.) Prasanjeet kumar.
Event was scheduled in two slots, in the first section of the event; there was the seminar where 7 participants– Mr. Ramesh Sampui – Assistant Professor, Amity University Haryana, Mr. Pradipta Biswas- Assistant Professor, Amity University Haryana, Mr. Deepak Sahani – Assistant Professor, Amity University Haryana, Mr. Yashwant Singh – Assistant Professor, NIU, Ms. Ritika Mittal – Assistant Professor, NIU, Ms. Neha Jangra – Assistant Professor, NIU and Ms. Marriena Mazumdar – Phd scholar, NIU presented their paper in online and offline mode. In the second half of the event the workshop on Art Writing and Criticism was conducted by the external expert Ms. Pranamita Borgohain with the 14 students of BFA and MFA Painting, which was followed by the discussion and feedback session on the art practice of each student.
During the workshop students were encouraged to write about their art works which will help them to analyze, interpret and evaluate the form and content of works. This workshop helped students to perceive, interpret and judge their own artworks on the personal level which will gradually develop into the artist statements and the reviews of individual artworks or art exhibitions for the general public or for the specialized audience.
This seminar and workshop on Art criticism and writing was effectively conducted and helped the faculties as well as students.
