Noida International University Celebrates World Environment Day with Poster Making & Essay Writing Competition to create awareness
Noida International University organised Poster Making & Essay Writing Competition on 3rd June to celebrate World Environment Day. The Cultural Committee of NIU aligned the competition with this year’s theme – ‘Only One Earth’. The aim of the activity was to create the awareness about the climate change and the threat our earth is facing due to human activities and encourage student to take action against the same.
70+ students from all 12 schools of NIU participated in the competition and around 120 visitors were also present to encourage them. The competition was inaugurated by Dr. Devesh Kumar Singh, Hon’ble Chairman, NIU; Prof. (Dr.) Vikram Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor, NIU; Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, NIU; Prof. (Dr.) Parsanjeet Kumar, Hon’ble Pro Vice-Chancellor, NIU and Dr. Pratibha Teotia, Cultural Committee Head, NIU.
While addressing the students at the event, Prof. (Dr.) Vikram Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor, Noida International University said, “We only have one earth and our own activities have made it difficult for the earth to survive. The earth has lost its glory and it is our responsibility to bring back that glory. The students are the future generation and thus we all need to act now before we end up losing every natural resource. This activity may seem simple but it has a great impact on young minds as students not only get to showcase their skills and express their emotions towards the mother earth but also understand the seriousness of Climate Change. I would like to thank all the students and visitors for participating in this event and request them to follow 3R’s in their life to save our planet earth – Reuse, Reduce & Recycle”.
Prof. (Dr.) Ruchika Gupta, Director SJMC and Dr. Umesh Chandra Nayak, HoD SFA were the judges for Poster Making competition. Judges for Essay Writing competition were Prof. (Dr.) Aparna Sharma, Director SLA and Prof. (Dr.) Ruchika Gupta, Director SBM.
Winners of Essay Writing competition were Kritagya Kaushik, BCT Second-Year student of School of Allied Health Sciences (First Prize) and Namrata Agarwal, B.Ed Second-Year student of School of Education (Second Prize).
Winners of Poster Making competition were Sanjay Poonia, MFA First-Year student of School of Fine Arts (First Prize) and Kiran, GNM First-Year student of School of Nursing (Second Prize).
“Noida International University organises such events every week to provide exposure to students and provide a platform to showcase their talent & skills. Such initiatives act as a breather for students from their normal routine life of studying and are a great source of tool for us to create awareness about any socio, economic and environmental issue. Climate Change poses a very serious threat to our existence and We need to take a collective, transformative action on a global scale to celebrate, protect and restore the planet”, said Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, NIU, Noida International University.

The Event was ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Indu Singh, Assistant Professor, SOE & member Cultural Committee.
