Introduction
World Environment Day is celebrated annually on the 10th of June across the globe to raise awareness regarding environmental protection and sustainable development. The day serves as a global platform for encouraging positive environmental actions among individuals, communities, educational institutions, and governments. In observance of World Environment Day 2026, the Department of Nursing organized a series of awareness and environmental conservation activities to promote ecological responsibility among the community.
Event Overview
The School of Nursing successfully organized a programme on “World Environmental Day” on 10th June 2026 in the College Campus. The event was designed to create awareness about the importance of a healthy environment and to educate participants about keeping the environment healthy and safe.
Faculty members and office staff actively participated in the programme, making it a significant initiative toward environmental promotion and conservation.

The Patron for the Program was Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, NIU. She is a leader in higher education with the vision, conviction, appreciation, knowledge, and work ethic of a great educator.
Prof. (Dr.) Tanveer Ahmad Wani, Dean – Quality Assurance & Accreditation, NIU. His vision for the Quality Assurance & Accreditation cell is to establish a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all academic and administrative processes of the university.
Prof. (Dr.) Dipak Sethi, Director, School of Nursing, as the Convenor. He guided and encouraged us throughout our program.
Programme Description
The World Environment Day programme commenced at 12:00 PM with a welcome address delivered by the programme coordinator. The significance of World Environment Day and the importance of environmental sustainability with emphasizing current environmental challenges such as climate change, deforestation, air pollution, water scarcity, and plastic waste management. The speaker encouraged everyone to adopt eco-friendly lifestyles and participate actively in environmental conservation initiatives.
A tree plantation drive was organized within the college campus. Faculty members and staff actively participated in planting various saplings to contribute towards increasing green cover and improving environmental quality.
