Teaching Summary

Well said by someone that expert teachers are not wedded to specific teaching strategies rather they regularly focus on evaluating the effects they have on students and adjust teaching method accordingly. When teaching and learning are “visible” that is when it is clear what teachers are teaching and what students are learning, student achievement increases. In the same way I give the details through my lectures and in the beginning of lecture in between and in the end of lecture I ask some questions regarding that particular topic so that we can guess that are they getting the benefit of lecture delivery or not if some of them are not able to understand so quick I do the thing again so that everyone according to their capability can grow together. We give them assignment, class test and p.p.t.. We also engage them in co-curricular activities like- debate, seminar etc. I also give them an oppourtunity to overcome their hesitation and fear by writing on the board and speaking in the classroom in the presence of students.

Teaching Summary

I believe as a Psychologist and a teacher it is my responsibility to challenge and support my students, in pursuit of three learning goals: (1) confront misconceptions about crucial psychological ideas; (2) learn basic psychological concepts; (3) cultivate an interest in the subject and an understanding of how we do with that. I want my students to leave my classroom with basic psychological skills that enable them to engage these ideas, making well-considered choices. How do I do this? I start with a complex, yet relevant, idea I then challenge them to discuss the questions in pairs and explain their answers to one another. Their responses showed me how their ideas have changed, and allows me to correct misconceptions and assess their understanding of basic Psychological concepts.

Research Summary

I have done research on “A socio - psychological study of HIV/AIDS Patients attending in S.N.Medical College Agra and J.N. Medical College Aligarh”. With the rising spread of HIV/AIDS there has been a growing emphasis on understanding its epidemiology and manifestations. Various factors such as biological, socio-cultural, economic and psychological have broadly seen as causing the spread of the virus. Migration, prostitution, machismo behavior, low literacy level, prevalence of myths and misconceptions further aggravate the rapid spread of the disease. It is seen that the infection is rapidly spilling from populations with high-risk behavior to the general population and also from urban to rural areas. Since there is no sure cure for the disease, its prevention becomes of paramount importance.
There is a global reaction and response to HIV/AIDS advocating the importance of education, awareness generation and also for adopting ‘safe practices’ has connotations to safety in sexual acts and medical safety (against sharing of needles and syringes). Many millions know nothing or too little about the virus to protect themselves against it. Globally, low level of knowledge coupled with myths and misconceptions are driving the disease out of control. The spread of epidemic at large scale may damage the socio-cultural fabric of society. The study was designed to estimate the past trend of HIV/AIDS spread and to forecast the HIV/AIDS in India and U.P. The information about the patients was taken from the two district medical colleges that are S.N.Medical College, Agra and J.N.Medical College, Aligarh of Uttar Pradesh. In recent years, U.P like all other parts of the country has been facing a new menace to public health-HIV/AIDS. At present, the prevalence of this dreaded and incurable disease in the state is low, but that how HIV began in all countries of the world where HIV prevalence is now at very high level. Although HIV prevalence is low here, it has made its presence felt in many districts of the state. Keeping in view the objectives of the study the diagnostic and descriptive research design was prepared and executed. The various aspects of the research design pertained to the important demographic features of the universe/sample frame, sampling procedure, research tools, data administration procedures and other details. The present work has been designed from the diagnostic and descriptive perspectives to analyze the socio-psychological condition of HIV/AIDS patients. The present study is diagnostic in nature because it facilitates in exploring the real problem by identifying the real causes of Social And Psychological Aspects Of HIV/AIDS Patients 8 the problem of HIV/AIDS patients. It is also descriptive in nature because it is a detailed account of HIV/AIDS and its affect on the society, family members and individuals psychologically, socially and economically.
Keeping in view the objectives of the study, the combined method of both quantitative and qualitative information was collected. A sample of 50 HIV/AIDS patients was selected from the S.N.Medical College, Agra and J.N.Medical College, Aligarh (25 patients from each medical colleges) out of the total HIV/AIDS patients registered in ART centers of these medical colleges during the years 2004 to 2008 for collecting information. These 50 HIV/AIDS patients were available and hence randomly selected for the purpose of the study. The structured interview schedule was to collect information from them. A part of this, 17 case studied have also been prepared to supplicate the quantitative information.

Executive Summary

I have three major goals as a sociology instructor: I want students to learn how social theory matters, I want them to learn how to think critically, and I want them to believe sociological research. I believe that my role, as an instructor, is to be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable resource that students can draw from as they develop themselves in these three areas.
First, I want students to see how social theory matters. To do this, many of my courses, readings, activities, and even exams run in two phases: we learn some social theories, and then we practice applying those theories to a variety of real life situations. For example, after learning the difference between biological essentialist and social constructionist theories in Sociology of Gender, we watched clips from a TV show and practiced identifying which approach the television characters are using. I believe that it is by actually practicing sociological principles that students are able to see the connection between social theory and their lives.
Second, I want students to learn how to think critically. Students in my class spend a substantial amount of time learning how to recognize bias and problematize the sociological literature that they read, lectures that I give, and their social world. I want students to develop the skill of healthy cynicism and critical thinking. I define critical thinking as the ability to recognize logical flaws, tolerate ambiguity in social debates, understand and empathize with positions that threaten deeply held values and beliefs, and identify biases in written and oral presentations. I organize many of my course activities around practicing these critical thinking skills.
Third, I want students to believe sociological research. Many students are able to recite sociological research, theory, and conclusions, and even apply these principles in exams. However, I realized recently that even my top students did not necessarily believe the information that they had been taught. My new goal as a sociology instructor is for students to actually believe the social constructionist viewpoint, believe that social inequality exists, and believe that sociological research is superior to common sense. I often anonymously poll students to directly ask them whether they believe what they’ve just been taught and, if not, what they do believe. I then use those responses to craft the next lecture.
To help students accomplish these goals, I strive to empower them as much as possible over the course organization, structure and content. I believe that when students take control over their own education they become more invested in the outcome. For example, last semester, individual students were able to select whether to write a comprehensive term paper or whether to do additional reading. Because I believe that people learn best through teaching, I also put students in teaching and facilitating roles.
As a role model to my students, I personally work to practice evidence-based teaching rather than practicing common-sense teaching. I am convinced by recent research that the learner-centered teaching practices I use are more effective than traditional teaching methods. I am committed to ongoing learning about best teaching practices.
